Say what you mean and mean what you say

Recently in New Zealand I was confronted with a different way of communicating that really confounded me. It was a way of saying something but meaning something else. Of using innuendos and speaking the opposite of what was really meant so be said. It was VERY confusing! My direct way of communicating didn’t seem to get me anywhere – it was like I was speaking another language! It was as if I was meant to be psychic and to intuit what was really meant. Took a lot of brain power and guess work! Made me realize how much I prefer direct communication and appreciate it so much when people say what they mean and mean what they say. Makes it so much easier!

Make an effort to say what you really mean, and when you say it, focus on meaning what you say. Be authentic. Be real. Tell it how it is. Be clear. Will save a lot of confusion and potential mis-intepretation!
